An Office that Bridges Heritage and Modern Innovation

An Office that Bridges Heritage and Modern Innovation

Before

  • Building’s refurbishment required entrance control solution.

  • Design needed to reflect the premium look of the building.

After

  • Speed Gates provide a secure, accessible flow of people.

  • Entrance’s bespoke design to complement the high-end aesthetic.

This major renovation and rehabilitation project sits as a striking office landmark in the central, upscale 8th district of Paris. It has been thoughtfully redeveloped by Arte Charpentier Architects to become a mixed-use shared office space.

Covering approximately 6200 square metres of space, this office features flexible, collaborative workspaces. Alongside this, there is a 150-seat auditorium, and an expansive rooftop terrace that delivers beautiful views over central Paris. A 500-square-metre protected garden lies at its heat, complemented by terraces and planted areas, building up to cover a further 1500 square metres.

Architecturally, this office creates a dialogue between the past and present: restored historic facades stand beside modern glass extensions adorned with brass coloured fins.

The project’s focus on sustainability and heritage has earned it a HQE and BREEAM “Excellent” certification, along with a biodiversity label.

Challenge

The refurbishment in Paris was a high-profile project that sought to harmonise historic architecture with a sleek modern design. A key requirement was the main entrance, which needed to deliver robust security, efficient flow management, and full accessibility compliance, all without detracting from the building’s premium aesthetic.

Solution

Meesons worked closely with the client to design and install a bespoke entrance control system tailored to the client’s requirements. The solution featured four dual-gate wings, including three standard lanes for regular throughput and one EA Compliant lane to ensure accessibility for all users.

Each gate was fitted with 1800mm high glass wings, offering a transparent, elegant appearance while maintaining security. This transparency also provides a more open feel, maximising the reception space. To complement the building’s modern interior, the speed gates were finished in Bradleys Architectural Metal Finishes using a Vantage RAL powder coating. This enabled both a premium look and durability in the design.

The use of integrated EasyTouch Control Panels provided intuitive operation and centralised management, reducing complexity for building staff.

Results

The new entrance solution transformed the way people move through the building in Paris. It now delivers efficient, secure, and inclusive access, reducing congestion and improving the experience for both employees and visitors. By combining advanced technology with high-end design, Meesons helped elevate the building’s modernisation, creating an entrance that reflects the client’s premium image while ensuring compliance and future scalability.

The result is a system that not only meets today’s demands but positions the office for the future.
