After
- Installed speed gates to prevent unauthorised access into the building.
- Provided a solution that can handle high throughput.
Electra House, located in the City of London, has recently become home to the Fashion Retail Academy. To make the move to this new site, the building underwent a £50 million refurbishment, providing twice the space for staff and students. This brought better facilities, including a larger library, 6 lecture theatres, studios, creative labs and more. On top of the wider offering, the new location also provided excellent transport links, such as being opposite Moorgate tube station, a 5-minute walk from Liverpool Street and easily accessible by bus from Kings Cross, Euston, Charing Cross, London Bridge, and Waterloo.
Challenge
The refurbishment of Electra House to house the Fashion Retail Academy enabled a larger number of staff and students to use the facilities on a daily basis, therefore, the main entrance needed to manage an increase in people flow. Alongside this, as the building is located in a London hotspot, the risk of unauthorised access can be higher due to the street footfall.
Since Electra House is an established structure, the client had to preserve its character during the renovation. This also meant that balancing cost-effectiveness and speed was necessary when looking for an entrance solution.
Solution
Meesons recommended the robust EasyGate SPD G Speed Gates as the ideal entry solution for the client. Their rapid opening and closing speeds make high-traffic flow a breeze. What’s more, they come with pressure-sensing tops that deter climb-over attempts, which can be a frequent occurrence in educational environments. Positioned in a bustling part of London, these speed gates serve as the first line of defence, warding off unauthorised visitors.
With the addition of ramps, these speed gates seamlessly integrated into the existing infrastructure, causing little to no disruption during installation.

Results
In conclusion, the implementation of the EasyGate SPD G Speed Gates by Meesons has proven to be an exemplary solution for the client’s entry management needs. The seamless integration with existing infrastructure, aided by the inclusion of ramps, underscores the thoughtful design and meticulous planning involved, minimising operational disruptions. This installation sets a new standard for security solutions, inspiring confidence and providing peace of mind for both the institution and its visitors.
